Match Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of their client based in Northampton. Our client has been established for nearly three decades and this is not your usual warehouse role. You’ll be one of just two people in the Warehouse, working alongside an established member of the team and taking real ownership of the day-to-day operation.
The warehouse is well organised, with established racking and a smart warehouse system, so you’ll need to be comfortable with IT as well as being hands-on. If you’re someone who likes to spot problems, sort them out and keep things moving, this could be a great fit.
In our client’s own words:
“It is not a simple pick, pack and shift boxes job. Our warehouse runs on systems, and a solid level of IT competence is essential and used throughout every day: updating product counts in our stock software, booking in shipments, working from a PDA, and keeping order and courier records accurate as you go. Getting that right matters as much as getting the physical work right, because the numbers on screen are what the rest of the business depends on. If you are not confident on a computer, this is not the role for you.”
What your day to day will look like:
Run the day-to-day Warehouse operation alongside a colleague, covering everything from goods in and stock control through to picking, packing and dispatch. You’ll also deal with urgent orders, overseas shipments and anything that’s a little out of the ordinary.
Take ownership and responsibility when things don’t go to plan. Whether it’s a stock discrepancy, missed courier collection or delivery issue, you’ll investigate it, sort it where you can and know when something needs escalating.
Have a say in how the Warehouse works. You’ll work closely with the Operations Manager to spot where processes, layout or stock handling could be improved, suggesting ideas and improvements to make things run more smoothly.
It’s a smaller company, so everyone gets involved. You’ll support with stock checks, audits, health & safety and keeping the Warehouse organised, as well as helping to train and support newer members of the team.
Support with health & safety checks and general Warehouse standards, making sure things are safe, organised and kept as they should be. You’ll also need to be practical and happy to get stuck in when there’s a job that needs doing around the building. It would be extra handy if you’re someone who can fix the odd shelf, broken toilet roll holder or similar jobs when they crop up.
This is a hands-on role with plenty of variety. You’ll need to be organised, use your initiative and be someone who likes to spot a problem and get it sorted.
